Chris Muller studied physics at the Technical University of Delft. He graduated in solid state physics in 1988 after which he started a PhD at the University of Leiden. He developed the MCB technique in the group of Professor de Jongh who has been his promotor. This was followed by two post-doc positions, one in Leiden and one at Yale. The initial molecular MCB experiments have been conducted in the Electrical Engineering department at Yale. After this he left academia and has worked for NXP ever since. He continued his interest in science and conducted molecular MCB experiments on his own account.
